Extra-curricular activities

Creative and Performing Arts Program

The CAPA Extracurricular Program provides a number of opportunities for students to extend their skills and to perform. Students are given the opportunity to perform at MADD night, SummerArts festival and eisteddfods. Every year there is a week-long CAPA week, where professional musicians and artists provide workshops to extend students.

Band Program

Muirfield High School has an extensive band program. Our band director, Mr Damian Butler, works closely with our Head Teacher Creative and Performing Arts, MsShelley Frame, and passionate parents to ensure successful bands and ensembles for all levels of musicians.

Dance Groups/Ensembles

As well as timetabled classes, Muirfield offers extra-curricular, after-school dance groups. In Year 7, students can be part of the Year 7 Gifted Dance Ensemble and the Boys Hip Hop group. These lessons provide a social and supportive environment to extend students' dance skills.

Event Crew

The Muirfield High Event Crew is a select group of students from Yr7 - 12 whose ‘behind the scenes’ service make school events such as formal assemblies,  MADD Night and Summer Arts possible. Students gain experience and specialise in a range of staging, audio visual and leadership roles.

Drama Club

After school drama groups are run for the keen dramatists among us in the specialist drama theatre. Students learn to script and perform.

Guitar Ensemble

Small group tuition for beginner, intermediate and advanced guitarists is held after school. Lessons are run by a professional musician, Craig Laird. This popular program focuses on fun and performance skills.
