At Muirfield High School, we believe students thrive when they are challenged, supported, and inspired. Our High Achievers Class is designed for students who excel in literacy and numeracy, providing an enriched learning environment where they can explore advanced concepts, develop critical thinking skills, and learn alongside like-minded peers.
Students in this class enjoy being challenged and pushed to reach their full potential. "We’re encouraged to learn at a faster rate, which also encourages us to study at home," says Asher (Year 8). The high expectations in the class motivate students to engage more deeply in their learning and develop independence. Olivia (Year 7) adds, “In all my classes, I’m challenged to look beyond and try harder,” highlighting how students are encouraged to explore subjects in greater depth.
At the same time, students are supported through peer collaboration and dedicated teachers. "If anything’s too hard, I can just ask other people in the class. Everyone’s smart, so most people understand it even if I don’t," explains Tyler (Year 8). Teachers also play a key role in making sure students feel confident in their learning. Aarabdhi (Year 7) shared, "My teachers always help me whenever I need it and explain things in detail if you have any questions."
The collaborative nature of the class helps students grow both academically and socially. "It’s always comforting to know that different people in the class got in for different things. Not everybody excels at everything, so it's great when you can talk to other classmates to help you," Emma (Year 8) shares. Olivia echoes this sentiment, saying, "I like that in my class, everyone supports each other and no one judges." This creates a supportive and engaging atmosphere where students can challenge themselves without fear of failure.
Beyond academics, students appreciate the fast-paced, engaging lessons and the enthusiasm of their classmates. "I like that in this class, students are interested in learning. A lot of people ask interesting questions, and you’re inspired by their knowledge," says Asher. The strong relationships between students and teachers also make learning more enjoyable. "All the teachers are really committed to helping us and explain things in detail," adds Tyler.
For some, the structured yet flexible approach of the class makes a difference. "In math, Miss Nielsen always gives extra work from different textbooks so we can progress further in our learning," says Isaac (Year 8). This ensures that students who are ready for more advanced material can move ahead while still receiving the support they need.
Ultimately, the High Achievers Class is more than just an academic challenge—it’s a community of motivated learners who encourage and support one another. If your child is a motivated learner who thrives in a dynamic and challenging environment, consider applying for the 2026 Year 7 Muirfield High School High Achievers Class. Applications are now open!
